Did my windows quality job

I came to use Verdi as a remedial company, instructed through Novuna. - Initial visit: pleasant chap, swift in identifying faults. - Refit installation: worked very hard to ensure no damage to the render on the property. Installation of free advertisement on my fence with no prior request for permission. - Issues post installation: 5 weeks after install crack developed on inside aspect of front window whilst the house was empty. Spoke with Dave who informed me that "glass doesn't just break, this is not a common occurrence, and has never occurred in over a year." That they had to take it from what they can physically see, that the glass was fitted for a month with no other issues reported by their supplier, that they were a fair company with better guarantees. That if they offered longer guarantees on glass, that they would be in the same situation as Safestyle - amazing really, when in his own words this has "never occurred in over a year"! That this had to be accidental damage; whilst I understand that people may pull the wool over company's eyes, I was happy to provide time stamped proof of the crack occurring whilst the house was empty. I was then told that a stone may have flicked up from the road (would be very impressive with no impact point on the glass from the outside, the crack occurring only on the inside, with a tall fence shielding the front of the property from the road, a good 11ft away). Or that other companies do not cover glass issues once they have driven away from the installation. I was provided with a replacement glass cost on a later phonecall, as they cited "accidental damage" by myself, despite the crack being on the inside of the property, no visible impact mark, and the crack starting from under the trim. I spoke with Novuna, who had taken on the guarantee from the initial installer, who then spoke with Verdi. Outcome was replacement glass as a "gesture of goodwill". Further issues arose trying to arrange a suitable date for repair. Haidyn rang me to "confirm" work booked in for the following day. Nobody had been in touch since I was provided with a cost for refit, which he said couldn't have been the case (it was!!!). I explained I wouldn't have agreed to a refit on a day that I was set to be working. The conversation was left that they would be in touch, that my availability was Monday/Tuesday or weekends if they were free. Wednesday of this week, a similar phonecall with Haidyn to "confirm" installation for the following afternoon. Luckily I was already off on preplanned holiday, but clearly they cannot follow simple instructions as to customer availability. Yesterday, I took my son to nursery first thing - imagine my shock when I received a phonecall from two workers outside my property at nine am, a good three hours earlier than the agreed afternoon! They very kindly stuck around until I could get home. They told me that I was first on their day list - how can this be when not even 24 hours earlier I was told afternoon? They confirmed once the trim was off that there was no way this was accidental damage. The crack as suspected occurred during installation and was a stress crack, as I had put to them, as the weather had warmed up. Any recommendations for this company are lukewarm at best. Initial survey and work was encouraging (the skill to refit all windows and doors without damage to the render is noted and appreciated), but beware of any post installation issues. Even presented with evidence, they will dispute any issues at their end, provide ridiculous scenarios all blaming the customer, communication will be terrible, and they will rock up whenever they feel like it. I am satisfied that the glass has been refitted at no cost to myself, but the battle to get there has honestly been a joke. I hope that the rest of the installation stays satisfactory, because I wish not to have to go through post-installation (lack of) care at Verdi again!
